We are a family business, operated by Chris and Del Lowe, with the highest professional standards.
Our horses are trained for both beginner riders and those able to trot or canter. So we can match the ability of our guests with the best possible trekking experience.
All groups are small. Ideally only four riders, with riders aged 12 years or more. You get personal care and attention from Chris, one of the region’s most experienced trek leaders.
Choose from a two or three hour trek or a full day horse ride.
You ride in magnificent landscapes
Rubicon Valley horse treks take you into the spectacular foothills and mountains of Canterbury. All only 45 minutes from Christchurch city.
We guide you across Rubicon Farm, a 2000 acre high country sheep station situated in Kowai Bush, near Springfield. It is the perfect place for a trekking adventure that beginners and experienced riders will enjoy.
Chris will ride with you through a mixture of flat river terraces and rolling hills. At times you are looking down in the magnificent snow-fed Waimakariri River Canyon. At other times you gaze up at huge, snow-capped Mt Torlesse.
Every turn of your trek brings you to spectacular scenery, right in the middle of ancient beach trees, native birds and over 3000 sheep.
